Before I Self Destruct est le quatrième album solo du rappeur 50 Cent. L'album est sorti le 16 novembre 2009 en France sous forme physique, et le 9 novembre sous forme digitale. Cet album devrait être le dernier album de 50 Cent sous Interscope.

Le beef commença en 2004 sur l'album de Young Buck avec le morceau Stomp où T.I. et Ludacris se clashent. A la fin du morceau Ludacris dit « Stay off the T.I.P. of my d*ck » qui signifie « Descend du B.O.U.T. de ma b*te ! ». Selon T.I., ce beef viendrait de rumeurs entendues en prison qui rapportaient des propos peu élogieux de Ludacris. En 2005, T.I. lança une pique à Ludacris sur l'album King avec le morceau « I'm Talkin' To You ».

En 2007, T.I. frappa au visage le manager de Ludacris, Chaka Zulu. Ludacris clashera T.I. sur le remix de « I Get Money » de 50 Cent. Au BET Awards lorsque Ludacris interprète son couplet de I Get Money , T.I. apparaît et interprète le couplet avec lui, mais dans la mixtape « Respect This Hustle », sur le morceau « Do U Potna », T.I. dit « That apology was BET not for DTP » ce qui signifie qu'il a fait ses excuses pour BET non pour DTP (le groupe de Ludacris).

En 2008 cependant, les conflits semblent oubliés; en effet Ludacris et T.I. se retrouvent sur le même morceau « Wish you would » qui figurera sur l'album de Ludacris prévu pour cette année Theater of the Mind. La chanson, elle, débute par une phrase de Ludacris : « Surprise négro ! Eh oui ça devait bien arriver un jour ou l'autre ».
De plus, on peut retrouver Ludacris sur le morceau « On Top Of The World » présent sur « Paper Trail » de T.I.

The Blueprint 3 est le 11e album studio de Jay-Z sorti le 8 septembre 2009. Après une longue collaboration avec le label Def Jam, cet album sort finalement chez Atlantic Records.

Cet album donne suite à The Blueprint (2001) et The Blueprint²: The Gift & The Curse (2002).

Le 5 juin 2009,que le premier single promo est laché "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)", produite par No I.D.. Le clip vidéo est réalisé par Anthony Mandler et contient des apparitions de l'acteur Harvey Keitel et du basketteur LeBron James. Dans cette chanson, le rappeur critique ouvertement l'utilisation abusive de l'Auto-Tune dans le rap, le look de certains rappeurs, la marque de champagne Cristal, ...

Le 24 juillet 2009, un nouveau morceau intitulé "Run This Town" en featuring avec Kanye West et Rihanna est en écoute sur la radio française Générations 88.2.

Une semaine après sa sortie américaine, l'album se classe n°1 aux États-Unis. Jay-Z bat ainsi le record de 10 albums classés n°1 dès la première semaine, détenu auparavant par Elvis Presley ./x]
